As part of celebrating 60 years of Indian independence, CNN-IBN the leading news channel of India is instituting ''CNN-IBN Indian of the Year'', the Biggest Award in Indian News Television. The award honors the finest Indians by recognizing the Indians whose contribution to the country in 2006 has strengthened the foundation of our society and has helped build Brand India in the process.

The ''CNN-IBN Indian of the Year 2006'' will be declared and the award given away at a grand event in New Delhi on 6th February, 2007.
