On the fourth death Anniversary of the late astronaut Kalpana Chawla, Nandita Das was honoured with Kalpana Chawla Excellence Award. The event was organised by Punjab Engineering College Old Boys Association and the award was presented to Nandita by Kalpana's father, Banarsi Lal Chawla.
Though Nandita has received several other awards, she says that this one will be very special to her as it is in the memory of her idol, Kalpana Chawla. She also felt very honoured as she received the award from Kalpana's father.
Nandita's last release was Chitra Palekar's bi-lingual film, Maati Maay. The film also starred Atul Kulkarni who played her husband in the film.
