Veteran Ghazal singer Bhupinder Singh who was very popular in the late eighties and early nineties is making a sort of come back. After being away from the lime light for almost a decade, he is back. Back to singing! But this time he will be singing in films. Bhupinder Singh is making a comeback by singing in not one but two films. Both the films have music by Shammir Tandon who had earlier done music for films like Page 3 and Corporate. The two films for which Bhupinder Singh will be singing for are Traffic Signal and Red Swastika.
When we asked Bhupinder about his comeback, he replied, "Well I was taking a break from singing for films and ghazals. Me and my wife were busy doing Ghazal stage shows and concerts all over India and also abroad”. When we asked him about how he got the songs and what other than the two songs is he doing, he replied "Shammir and me knew each other. We used to meet in parties. He always liked my voice and I appreciated his music. So one day he just told me he wants me to sing for him and so I did. Along with these two songs, I am also doing a private album, it is a classical album. I might just ask work from people as this is how the industry works. I am open to everyone in the industry provided the song is good. I am also in the process of re-singing my original compositions which have released earlier. I am still working on that”.
When we asked about what he feels about the song in Traffic Signal, he told us that it is a beautiful song and very romantic tune. The lyrics of this song are by Sameer. Shammir Tandon is known to get back old classical singers who seem to have lost hold in the industry. He made Asha Bhosle and Manna De sing in his previous films and this time around, it is Bhupinder Singh.
